Metaco was founded in 2009 by Barbara Walsh and Danny Tuckwood. The company grew rapidly to become a leader in the field of Executive Coaching and Leadership Development. In 2014 they met Professor Peter Hawkins at Henley in the UK and resonated with his approach of developing high performing teams in the midst of their most important work, rather than individual leaders personally, outside of their work context. Peter joined the team as a Non-Executive Director and later became a shareholder in Metaco. The company grew by leaps and bounds as we became recognised for our expertise in this newly developing area of organisational effectiveness, and we found our niche working at the interfaces between organisational strategy, design and execution of tactical imperatives, the necessary development of leadership accountable for their results, and the requisite company culture to enable successful achievement of the strategy. Our work with thought leaders in prominent institutions and environments worldwide ensures our work is always aligned with global best practice and carries both local and international accreditation.
In mid-2018 Metaco was acquired by Comair to become the Leadership pillar of the futuristic Aviation Academy Comair was developing as part of its diversification strategy for the future. A change of leadership at Comair resulted in the return to their old ways of doing business, and the abandonment of the vision for the Academy less than a year later, including their divestment of Metaco. Although significant damage was caused to our company, we fortunately still had our skills and experience in working with other teams through their own changes and challenges, and we started to apply these back into our own situation. In taking a stand against the unethical behaviour to which we were subjected, and at the same time starting the process of reclaiming and rebuilding Metaco, we have discovered the true essence of resilience, and found ourselves in the midst of a learning edge of personal experience it would otherwise have been impossible to acquire. As we integrate our ongoing learning into our work with client teams, they too are benefitting from our experience.
Metaco is currently a Level 4 BBEEE provider, we anticipate that by the end of 2020 we will have risen to a Level 2.
